Sarkofagen, Longyearbyen, Svalbard

In the summer 2013 we visited Svalbard. The last day we took part in a walk up to Sarkofagen, a top just above Longyearbyen. While my husband (you see him in the photos) walked all the way out to the top I took these photos.

September double page reveal at Stick it DownIt

It's time to reveal the double sketch inspirations for September at Stick it Down.

I found some more photos from our trip to Svalbard a couple of years ago and made this layout:

I have used dark cardstock and a white mist on it. The patterned papers are from BoBunny and FabScrap. Everything I have used on this page are old stuff, except one die, which I got only days before I made it. It's fun to look through old stuff and find great things to use for a new page.

The journaling is telling about Coles bay, a bay where the cole from Grumant were shipped out.

I have used white gessospray on the background.

The Orthodox chapel in Barentsburg

Today it's time to reveal the DT's inspiration layouts at Stick it Down. I loved playing with this sketch. I picked some photos taken in Barentsburg, Svalbard, two years ago. We visited the mining town in July 2013, when staying in Longearbyen for some days.

With this layout I also attend to challenge #10 - Bingo-board in Scrappelands Sommarland, using flowers, butterflies and twine.

I have used book papers for my butterflies and flowers. Before I punched the out I prepared the page with a thin layers of gesso and Glimmer Spritz from My Besties.

I used some glass beads in the midle of the flowers, on the butterflies and some other places.

The journaling says:
"The small Orthodox chapel built in memory of those who died in the plane crash at Mount Opera in 1996."

The metal embellishment is from Rusty Color and I have cut it in two to fit on this layout in the upper left corner and the lower right corner.

The chipboard letters are colored with Magical powder from Lindys Stamp Gang.

Gruvebyen Pyramiden

En av oppgavene i Scrapathon hos Scrappeland forrige helg var å lifte seg selv. Jeg fant fram en LO jeg laget i 2007:

                                       

Så fant jeg bilder fra Svalbardturen vi hadde i fjor. Da besøkte vi den nedlagte gruvebyen Pyramiden. Papirene og noe av pynten er fra Swirlydoos august-kit. I teknikk-kitet i september fikk vi silikonform og Mod Melts, så noe av pynten er laget med det.

Her er et par av tannhjulene og en nøkkel jeg har laget.

A card and a layout for Let's Scrap

Last week I had a card for the weekly sketch at Let's Scrap, sketch 8-20-14.

It's a birthdaycard and I have used some old patterned papers.

 The frame is a diecut which I have embossed with different embossingpowders.

For the challenge #192 I made this layout for inspiration. The challenge is a bingochart and I chose to use arrows, handwritten journaling, stamps and twine. It's also a must to use one of the tutorials from the forum, and I choose to make my own twine. The sketch to use is 3-3-10.

Here is the twine, both a piece I've bought and some homemade.

For the layers and texture I have used some stensils and different painting and some stamping.

In the upper right corner I put a large stamped arrow pointing at the photo.

This challenge is going on until next Thursday (4. september), so why not jump over to Let's Scrap and join in?

These two projects are also my two last projects for Let's Scrap as a DT. This term is over in just a few days, and I'm saying thanks for a great time.

Round Robin April at Swirlydoos

This month the twist is "Spring cleaning" - use at lieast 50% stuff that are at least one year old!
Yes, we all have a lot of that stuff, and I have been going through some old papers and embellishments for this page.
We are also encouraged to use some technique from one of the Swirlydoos videos, and I wanted to try something from last months kit release. You can find it here. I also used a stamping technique on the background from an earlier video, which you find here.
Since I got a new die last week I also had to try that.

I'm first out this month so here is my layout.

We took this photo last summer from the Plataumountain on Svalbard, were you have a great view over Longyear city.
The journaling tells about the name, which is taken from a man who was important for the mining there over 100 years ago.

Both the papers and most of the embellishments are from Swirlydoos July-kit 2012.
Some of the stamping are done with Silks and some with distress ink and glimmermist.

Round Robin March at Swirlydoos

This month I was the last one out on my team. The twist was to use dies.

I followed three other girls and the last one was Cheryl, who used a lot of paperstrips and they all had painted on the backgrounds. If you want to see the other pages go to Swirlydoos.

I kept the strips and only dripped paint around the page.

Loved playing with the Prima collection of papers, cards and tags. Here is also one of the die-cuts I used.

I chose to put my title right on the photo and I used die-cuts for it.

A lot of strips and layering.

October Round Robin at Swirlydoos

This month I had week 3, and before me was two very good ladies, so I had a gorgeous layout to lift, this one from Robin:

This month's theme is SHADOWS.

I had to look through my photos to find one to fit and found one from our trip to Svalbard this summer. In Longyearbyen you can see over to the charachteristic mountain Hjortfjell and there you can see the shadows, here in this photo taken late one evening:

The papers are from the October kit from Swirlydoos, and so are the birdcage. It's colored with micas in gold and green.

The flowers are from earlier kits and so are the stickpin and the pearls.

I used an embossingfolder on the paper behind the photo.

A couple of swirls, made of the same blue paper as the title.
